B: That's true. And he tries to keep up with the Joneses.
的確如此，而且他還需要維持一般的生活水準。
A: Not really. He tries to save, but the family expenses are on his shoulders. That's why he's on pins and needles.
也不完全如此，他是想要存錢，但是要負擔家庭開支的責任，所以他老是緊張兮兮的。
B: Why doesn't he play the lottery?
他怎麼不去買彩券？
A: Because he can bank on the fact that he's not going to make a killing that way.
