中新網報道，根據教育部官網消息，2020年全國碩士研究生招生考試將於本週六至下週一舉行，報考人數341萬人。

postgraduate entrance examination是碩士研究生入學考試。
今年的報考人數較去年增幅超過17%。2019學年（academic year）研究生報考人數達290萬人，較2018年增長21%。
研究生招生信息網站（information website for postgraduate enrollment）公佈的數據顯示，過去五年來，江蘇、四川、江蘇、福建和廣東省的報考人數（the number of students taking the exam）翻了一倍。
研考人數（postgraduate aspirants）的增加表明我國高等教育的需求（the demand for higher education）依舊強勁。
21世紀教育研究院副院長（vice-director）熊丙奇表示，許多學生報考研究生（apply for postgraduate studies）主要是爲了找到更好的工作（find a better job）。
他指出，“不少受教育者接受高等教育，仍是爲追求一紙文憑，而非爲提高自身學識或能力（enhance their knowledge or skills），這導致大學畢業生整體質量不高（reduce the general quality of graduates），難以滿足社會用人單位對大學畢業生的需求（companies may find it harder to get the employees they want）。”
