二戰的時候，希特勒覺得它太美了，不忍心看到它被摧毀，所以下令保護了它。

The Ponte Vecchio ("Old Bridge") is a medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy. It is noted for its shops built along it, as was once common. Butchers initially occupied the shops; the present tenants are jewelers, art dealers, and souvenir sellers. It was Hitler himself who rescued The Ponte Vecchio of Florence from being destroyed during the World War II. He thought it was too beautiful to be destroyed.

老橋（Ponte Vecchio）是意大利佛羅倫薩的阿爾諾河上一座中世紀石制封閉式空心拱橋。它以其橋身兩側建造的店鋪羣而聞名，曾幾何時這些都是司空見慣的。屠夫最初佔領了這些商鋪，而目前的租戶則是珠寶商、藝術品經銷商和紀念品銷售商。當年是希特勒拯救了老橋，使其免於二次世界大戰期間的破壞。他認爲這座橋太美麗了，不應該被摧毀。
