辦公室英語情景對話
在職場中,大家都對Message和Note比較熟悉,但是談到備忘錄Memo的時候大家往往會將其與前面的兩個單詞搞混。Memo在中文中有兩個解釋,除了表示錄以備忘的公文之外,還在美國往往還用來表達公司的內部通知。
備忘錄有哪些類型呢?一般來說備忘錄(Memo)分爲告知信息類、佈置安排類、徵求意見類、詢問信息類、求職申請類以及推薦建議類。下面我們就通過一則情景對話來看一則關於告知信息類的備忘錄。
A: Ms. Dawson, I need you to take a dictation for me.
A:道森小姐,我想讓你給做一下記錄。
B: Yes, sir…
B:好的,老闆。
A: This should go out as an intra-office memorandum to all employees by this afternoon. Are you ready?
A:這是今天下午之前發給所有職工的內部文件。準備好了嗎?
B: Yes, sir. Go head.
B:好了,老闆。您說吧。
A: Attention all staff…Effective immediately, all office communications are restricted to email correspondence and official memos. The use of Instant Message programs by employees during working hours is strictly prohibited.
A:全體員工請注意……請立即執行:所有辦公室的聯繫僅限於電子郵件和正式的備忘錄。上班時間嚴禁使用即時通信系統。
B: Sir, does this apply to intra-office communications only? Or will it also restrict external communications?
B:老闆,這僅限於辦公室內部通行嗎?還是也包括外部通信?
A: It should apply to all communications, not only in this office between employees, but also any outside communications.
A:所有的通信都應該包括在內,不僅是辦公室的員工之間,還包括所有對外聯繫。
B: But sir, many employees use Instant Messaging to communicate with their clients.
B:可是老闆,很多員工都用即時通信系統與客戶聯繫。
A: They will just have to change their communication methods. I don’t want anyone using Instant Messaging in this office. It wastes too much time! Now, please continue with the memo. Where were we?
A:他們只需要改變一下聯繫方法。我不想要任何人在這個辦公室使用即時通信系統,太浪費時間了!現在,請繼續往下寫備忘錄。我們剛剛說到哪兒了?
B: “This applies to internal and external communications…”
B:“這包括內部和外部聯繫……”
A: Yes. Any employee who persists in using Instant Messaging will first receive a warning and be placed on probation. At second offense, the employee will face termination. Any questions regarding this new policy may be directed to department heads.
A:是的。任何堅持使用即時通信系統的人,如果是初犯就會受到警告,然後試用一段時間。如果是第二次犯,這個人就會被解僱。有關這一新政策的問題可以直接向部門主管反映。
B: Is that all?
B:就這些嗎?
A: Yes. Please get this memo typed up and distributed to all employees before 4 pm.
A:就這些。請把這份備忘錄打印出來,在下午四點以前分發給所有員工。
