BEIJING - Nearly 70 percent of Chinese people are opposed to a proposal to increase the retirement age, as the country looks to improve its pension system, according to a survey on Friday.
北京消息，據週五公佈的一份調查結果顯示，近70%的中國民衆反對延遲退休年齡的提案，目前中國正在討論改進養老金制度。

increase the retirement age是延遲退休年齡；pension system是養老金制度。
人民網對中國11個城市的1062人進行了問卷調查，有68.6%的受訪者反對延遲退休（against raising the retirement age）。其中，在外資企業（foreign-funded companies）工作的人士反對聲最高（voice the fiercest opposition）。
另外，有73.5%的受訪者表示支持彈性退休制（flexible retirement），即即政府規定一個退休年齡段區間，尊重員工的意願（respect workers' wills），選擇適合自己的退休時間，而9.3%的人則強烈反對（strongly opposed）這項政策。
調查顯示，排在“養老金改革最應採取的措施（measures should be implemented in reforming the pension system）”前三位（top three）的分別是：實行彈性退休（adopt a flexible retirement mechanism）而非一刀切（a one-size-fits-all policy）、建立多支柱養老金體系（set up a multi-pronged system）以及縮小各種人羣退休差距（narrow the gap of how much pension different groups of employees should receive）。
自2008年開始，北京在考慮延遲退休年齡，以解決（cope with）勞動力市場萎縮（shrinking workforce）及老齡化社會（aging society）的問題。
