第三課《分手了！》對課文的學習結束了。分手也就意味着戀情的終止，我們今天就繼續來學習與“戀情的終止”非常流行的俚語，這些俚語具有很強的表現力來描述我們的情感。
1. 原味表述：falling-out
釋義：A severe quarrel or disagreement, especially one that leads to a temporary or permanent end of a relationship.（導致分手）的爭吵
例句：I haven't spoken to my brother for nearly three years because of a falling-out we had over our late father's estate.
我已經將近三年沒跟我哥哥說話了，因爲我們爲了已故父親的遺產發生了爭執。
Greg and I had falling-out two years ago and haven't spoke since.
Greg和我兩年前鬧翻了，從此再也沒說過話。
2. 原味表述：freeze out
釋義：To exclude or ostracize someone by being cold or distant to them. （慢慢結束）
例句：After only a few years of marriage, Gina and Tony's relationship fizzled out.
結婚纔剛幾年，Gina和Tony的婚姻就慢慢走到了盡頭。
I think they're trying to freeze me out of the literary magazine this year. No one will return my emails.
我想他們今年想把我趕出文學雜誌，沒有人回覆我的郵件。
We didn't want to freeze you out. You failed to pay your dues, however.

3. 原味表述：peter out
釋義：[for something] to die or dwindle away; [for something] to become exhausted gradually. （逐漸消失，使逐漸精疲力盡）
例句：When the fire petered out, I went to bed.

My money finally petered out, and I had to come home.
我的錢終於花光了，我不得不回家了。
His campaign started really strong, but following a series of scandals, public support for the candidate petered out and he never got off the ground.
